Southern Idaho Open & Veterans Day Tournament Results

Idaho Chess hosted another successful event today on Chess.com. We had 23 players from three states. We were honored to have Eric Vigil among the competitors, an army medic during the Gulf War from Iowa. Eric, on behalf of Idaho Chess and all of our members, we thank you for your service! Ben and Karen joined us from Washington. Glad to have you guys on board!

James Wei seized first place. He was undefeated with four wins. Kaustubh Kodihalli got a clean second. Leo Wang and Forrest Zeng tied for third. It’s significant to note that the winners were all Idaho scholastic players. Jeff Roland, representing the Idaho Chess Board, came in fourth. Leo, Forrest and Jeff all had an impressive three wins but the young guns got Jeff on tie breaks. Congratulations to the winners!

Idaho Chess’s next tournament, The Turkey Shoot, will be on Saturday, November 21 and Wednesday, November 25. The main event on Saturday will be our usual 30+5 classic format. Then we’ll have the blitz side event on Wednesday - a wild 7SS 5+3 tourney.

We hope to see you all here on Chess.com!
