Idaho Chess History Project
by Jeff Roland
Idaho Chess History Project is an ongoing project to preserve the history of chess in Idaho. We are adding new and refining old information as it becomes available through ongoing research. It is a work in progress.
It is humbling, rewarding, and inspiring all at the same time to see what has happened before, how that affects current history of today, and how what we do today shapes the future.
The Idaho Chess Association (ICA) was formed in 1947. Early records for the ICA are hard, if not impossible, to come by. We invite everyone to participate in Idaho chess events and become part of the rich and rewarding Idaho Chess History!

In 1966, it was decided to discontinue the Idaho Chess Bulletin, as published by the Idaho Chess Association. Dick Vandenburg continued to produce the "Idaho Chess Bulletin" under the banner of Northwest Chess Letter. Vandenburg also produced occasional reports that were sent to Idaho chess players called "Idaho Chess Report". There were also various miscellaneous mailings sent to the members to report results
